Per Town Ordinance, individuals are prohibited from bringing pets and other animals, birds and reptiles onto the grounds of
the Scituate Art Festival and the surrounding village of North Scituate between the hours of 10am and 5pm during Scituate Art Festival (i.e., Columbus Day) weekend. Service animals are exempt from this
Scituate Art Festival, Inc. is a private, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization. We operate our juried fine art, craft and
antique show on the Town-owned village green and, therefore, anyone visiting or exhibiting at our festival is subject to the Town ordinance. After years of answering a variety of complaints and
witnessing several close calls, the Scituate Police Department recommended this ordinance to help ensure the safety of the many thousands of people who visit our show each year. It is incumbent upon us
to respect the decision of the Town to prohibit dogs and other creatures from their property. Crowds can be very stressful, even for well-trained dogs who are normally calm, and most dogs would be just
as happy relaxing at home while their people are free to focus on shopping, eating and listening to music.
We love our pets and we understand that many folks will be disappointed by this restriction. But please leave your wonderful
dogs and other animals safe at home when you visit us. We would hate for anyone to be inconvenienced by being asked to leave the festival. Even worse would be the potential danger to any pet left in an
automobile after its owner was asked to remove him from the festival.
Thank you. Now go hug your dog!
